2.1 Visiting Shool
BARRANDIEN
Architectural Association
Visiting School in Prague
with Pavel Bouše and Miroslav Pazdera
2025-2026

The inaugural AA Visiting School in Prague traced the footsteps of the 19th-century palaeontologist Joachim Barrande.

The programme followed the naturalist lens as a method of landscape reading and imagination. The collected and drawn material was exhibited in Barrande’s original apartment building.

with Kateřina Frejlachová,
Miroslav Pazdera,Martin Špičák
Park Books / VI PER

2.3 Summer School
CARRIER BAGS
with Emily Priest & Laurence Lumley
Architectural Association
Summer School
2024-2025

The ‘Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction’ (1986) by Ursula K. Le Guin seeks ‘the other story, the untold one, the life story.’ In Unit 1 Carrier Bags, we took the essay as a method of reading the city.

2.4 Publication
THE ARCHITECTURES BEYOND THE PLINTH
with Laura Linsi, Roland Reemaa
Park Books
2018

Weak Monument, The Architectures Beyond the Plinth, published in conjunction with the Estonian pavillion at the XVI. Venice Biennale, explores the blurred line between a monument’s explicitly political form and the architecture of everyday. It juxtaposes classical monuments with seemingly insignificant architectural objects and public space in a collection of images and drawings, archival as well as newly commissioned ones, alongside essays and brief texts.

Carbon Economies
Detailing Risk
Individual Research Project

Student Work by Qiyue Dong (Dustborne Diagnosis - Render reacting to pollution particles material study)
& Omri Levy (It Takes a Valley to Raise a Child,  Exclusion Zones created by London School Catchment Areas Map)

The MArch Design Practice Programme is positioned between architectural practice and research, designing critical, creative and ambitious proposals for a just transition.

The Carbon Economies Unit examines the role of carbon within a globalised building industry, methods of carbon modelling and accounting, and campaigns for divestment and energy reform.

The Detailing Risk Unit inverts the normative study of design detailing by turning to breakdowns and catastrophes where details, joints and connections have failed.

The Independent Research Project fosters individual research questions and methodologies that build on learning and exposure developed through the core and elective units in the previous terms, encouraging students to reflect on their contexts of practice and/or the forms of practice they wish to enter or build.

2.6 Essay
LAND UNDER SHELVES
AA Publications
2025

The essays included in this issue explore what it means to belong to land, to claim it, to be landed, or to maintain land through stewardship and responsibility. The authors span scales and interpretations from the earthbound (Silvana Taher), to the mythical (Charlotte Birrell), the legal (Georgia Hablützel) and the infrastructural (Tadeáš Říha).

2.5 Summer school
SOHO PLAYBOOK
with Emily Priest & Kay Sedki
Architectural Association
Summer School
2023-2024

Before we made books, we made models of books. In Unit 2, we constructed collective playbooks between the AA Library and Soho. We gave directions and told stories, but also misdirected and told fictions. The outcome is a book, The Vilest Reptiles in London, now in the AA Library.

Tadeáš Říha is a registered architect,  practising between London and Prague.

Working across community and residential buildings, urban design, exhibition-making, and curatorial practice, the work establishes focused collaborations at the intersection of architecture, planning, sustainable engineering, and culture. Recent projects include a community centre in Central Bohemia, the exhibition Tělák / Body Class for the Museum of Prague, and a private cellulose-insulated timber summerhouse.

In his research projects, Tadeáš investigates architectures as hardened situations of political and economic power, where built structures and living organisms coalesce. He co-curated Weak Monument, the Estonian National Pavilion at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, mapping the implicit political significance of public spaces that exist beyond the plinths of traditional monuments. His research project Steel Cities investigates the outsourced landscapes of logistics along the westernmost border of Eastern Europe – Northwest Bohemia.

Tadeáš studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology and CTU in Prague.
As a senior architect at 6a architects, Tadeas coordinated the community-led Holborn House project, awarded the 2023 RIBA National Award. During the 9 years at 6a architects he worked on projects like the MK Gallery in Milton Keynes or Tate Liverpool.

Tadeas has taught at the Royal College of Art, School of Architecture and the School Architecture and Cities at the University of Westminster. He is the Program Head of the Architectural Association Visiting School in Prague.
